Luca Dini started working in the yacht world twenty-five years ago. He specialized in interior and exterior design of pleasure yachts since 1987 when he became a key element in the staff of a renowned Florence-based studio. After establishing Luca Dini Design In Florence (1996) he left his unique mark on the yacht world and progressively opened new branches taking care also of architecture at large, interior design, objects, and various projects ranging from private residences and car design (see the collaboration with Lancia on the Lancia Delta Yacht Design Concept) to private planes interiors and the yacht-themed installation at Abitare Il Tempo (Verona, 2009), an internationally renowned interior design fair. Luca Dini designed many yachts built by some of the most famous shipyards. The new Admiral lines bear his signature: some examples are Aqua (40m), Blue Eyes (42m), Sea Force One (54m, 2008) a yacht unique for both design and technology which was built by the joint venture Admiral/Mariotti: at the time of her launch she was defined as a floating museum because of the many works of art that are on board, and to this day she has lost nothing of her power to amaze and fascinate. Her sister ship Rahil was launched in 2010. More recently the collaboration Dini/Admiral has created Cacos V (40m 2013, first specimen of the Impero line), Entourage (47m, 2014), Flying Dragon (45m, 2014), Nono (37m, 2014) and Tremenda (37m, 2016), the latter two as part of the Impero RPH line.
With ISA shipyard he designed the interiors of Axioma (47m), while with Mondo Marine he established a long professional partnership: we will mention just a few examples, like Panther II (42m, interiors), Princess Iolanthe (45m, external design), Tribù (explorer vessel 50m owned by Luciano Benetton; first yacht awarded with RINA’s Green Star certification), Streamline II (50m, interiors) and Nameless (41m, interiors, 2013); finally it is worth pointing out that Sarastar, with its 60 m length, is the new Mondo Marine flagship and it has just been launched (2016). Many are his collaborations with other shipyards such as CBI Navi’s Sophie Blue 41m, Alibi 50m and a 26m Motor Yacht owned by Ugo Gussalli Beretta; Tecnomar’s Mates (35m open owned by football coach Roberto Mancini) and Villa Sul Mare (43m); Kifaru Yacht’s 63ft Askari, an open yacht completely made in aluminium with external lines definitely inspired by car design. Horizon Yachts, the Taiwanese shipyard for which Luca Dini designed the interiors of three yachts, the last of which (RP120 37m) just won the award for best Asian built yacht at the Asia Boating Awards 2016. Lately Luca Dini started a collaboration with Benetti which gave birth to two projects under the banner Benetti Innovation (55 and 72m), and also to a 44m featuring a sporty design and high-speed performances which is currently under development, and also designed the interiors of a 57 m M.Y. which will be soon delivered.
Other projects now under development are: the total refit of a 80m M.Y., has just begun at the Dutch shipyard Amels; a 42m M.Y. which will be the first born of the new Akhir series by the historic Italian benchmark Cantieri di Pisa, currently at a stage of renaissance, for which Luca Dini was appointed to redesign the complete new line the range of which goes from 22 to 60m.
